West Ham ace Nikola Vlasic absolutely raved about his teammate Manuel Lanzini, when speaking to the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old Hammers ace has been in sensational form over the past month or so.
His brilliant performance’s have been so good to watch considering the problems he’s faced over the past three years or so trying to come back from the horror injury he sustained in the build up to the World Cup in 2018.
Lanzini has scored five goals in his last nine games for West Ham (Transfermarkt). Form is temporary, class is permanent as the old saying goes…
We always knew Manu had the quality but whether he would ever show it again on a consistent basis was another matter entirely.
It’s clear and obvious to see that we have our little diamond back. One man was always confident of Lanzini’s quality though…
Nikola Vlasic raves about Manuel Lanzini
The 24-year-old Croatian moved to the London Stadium from CSKA Moscow on transfer deadline day in the summer from CSKA Moscow.
West Ham boss David Moyes shelled out £25.7 million plus £7.7 million in add-ons to bring Vlasic to East London (The Athletic). £35 million is a big price-tag and one that means Vlasic is under huge pressure to perform week in, week out.
He has made a slow start to life with the Hammers but is slowly starting to show what he’s capable of. And perhaps it’s no coincidence that he has shown his best stuff when playing alongside the reinvigorated Lanzini.
And Vlasic explained how he was impressed with one Hammer in particular before he swapped Russia for England, when speaking to WHUFC.com:
“I think Manu deserves it. Even before I came here when I watched West Ham I’d associate them with Manuel Lanzini and Mark Noble, so I’m really happy I’m now part of the team. To be honest I’d always look at how Lanzini played because I like his style and he showed again on Sunday that he’s a great player.”
That is quite the praise.
And it proves that Lanzini always had genuine quality even if he wasn’t showing it consistently for West Ham last season.
The former River Plate ace has absolutely everything. He is unbelievably cool and composed in possession of the football and when he receives the ball on the half turn there really aren’t many better in world football.
Lanzini’s recent rebirth means that he has genuinely been like a new signing for the Hammers. It’s a tired old cliché but it’s true!
Hopefully Vlasic can go on to emulate the diminutive South American play-maker. The Croatia international can learn so much from Lanzini.
And hopefully the two players continue to produce the goods over the course of the next month whilst Said Benrahma is away but more importantly between now and the end of the season.
