Michail Antonio has admitted that he was upset by being left out of the West Ham team that faced Chelsea last weekend.
The 32-year-old striker has been pretty much ever present for the Hammers this season.
David Moyes has been forced to use him every single week because he is the only recognised striker at the London Stadium!
Antonio was left out against Chelsea last weekend though. The 32-year-old was one of six changes that Moyes made for the clash with the Blues.
The Hammers faced Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League just four days later so it was understandable why Moyes made so many changes to his team.
One player clearly wasn’t happy with being left out against Chelsea though…
Michail Antonio upset by Moyes team selection
The 32-year-old West Ham forward has avoided injury throughout the entire season so far.
He was left ton the sidelines against Chelsea last week though…and he wasn’t happy about it.
Antonio says Moyes’s team selection last weekend actually hurt him, when speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast:
“I’m not going to lie to you, it hurt me, I’ve not spoken to the manager, but it hurt me. When I’m fit I want to play, the fact is that over the last few years my injuries have meant I’m not able to stay fit. This season, I’ve been fit and because I’m fit, I want to play, so I was upset, I won’t lie.”
Antonio was rested for the Chelsea game rather than dropped.
Still though, it’s understandable why he would have wanted to play at Stamford Bridge.
He may well be left disappointed again for this afternoon’s clash with Arsenal. With the second-leg against Eintracht Frankfurt on the horizon, David Moyes might mix his starting XI up for the Gunners clash at the London Stadium.
And it would be no surprise at all to see Antonio sit this one out.
