Hammers midfield ace Tomas Soucek got the red carpet treatment this weekend and now West Ham must do the same.

As the old saying goes ‘there is no smoke without fire’ and whether we, as West Ham fans, like it or not the rumours surrounding the future of Hammers star Soucek simply are not going away.

Claret and Hugh have a direct line into the Hammers boardroom and their inside sources have persistently claimed for some time that Soucek has had a falling out with David Moyes and that West Ham are willing to sell the Czech Republic captain.

Football Insider has made similar claims about both the apparent disagreement between Moyes and the player over a new contract as well as West Ham being willing to sell.

Sky Sports denied such claims and insisted West Ham were not looking to sell the midfielder this summer.

Since then Claret and Hugh’s inside source has reiterated that Soucek could be sold on several occasions.

Fans were also left shocked by claims the club would “hope” to fetch £40m but may accept as little as £20m!

Fans are, as usual, left wondering what the truth of the matter is given the claim and counter claim. Invariably it is somewhere in the middle.

Soucek has been linked with moves to Newcastle and even bitter rivals Tottenham (The Sun and Chronicle Live).

West Ham are even said to be braced for a mystery bid for Soucek which would give Moyes his biggest decision yet.

According to a West Ham insider updating Claret and Hugh on the situation, the club are “expecting” a bid from a “mystery club” for Soucek.

But the vast majority of West Ham fans feel Moyes would be making a major mistake to let the pivotal star leave off the back of one below par season.

Especially when the manager has admitted himself that much of that was down to his change of tactics in the dynamic between Soucek and Declan Rice.

Moyes is refusing to roll out the red carpet for the midfielder over a new Hammers contract.

But Soucek got the red carpet treatment off the pitch this week and now West Ham must do the same.

The Czech appeared at a film premiere event with his wife and posted a picture of them both walking the red carpet alongside a message.

“I’m more used to green lawn, but this time I made it on red carpet,” Soucek said on Twitter.

“First time, and hopefully not for the last time.”

West Ham fans are also hoping it’s not the last time.

As many feel the club should now be rolling out the red carpet for Soucek with a new deal waiting at the end of it.
