West Ham United’s dream of signing Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson appears to be over, for the time being at least.

The Athletic claims that the 21-year-old superstar in the making is set to sign a new long-term deal with Forest that will run until the summer of 2026.

Hammers boss David Moyes allegedly wants to bring Johnson to the London Stadium this summer.

The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting young talents on the planet.

Johnson has so much talent and he proved on a consistent basis last season that he can mix it with the big boys at senior level.

He would have been a truly stunning signing for West Ham in the summer transfer window but it appears as though we won’t be bringing him to East London from the East Midlands anytime soon…

West Ham to miss out on dream signing

Brennan Johnson is set to sign a new long-term deal with Nottingham Forest according to a report from The Athletic.

The new contract will run until the summer of 2026.

It’s a real shame that West Ham won’t be bringing Johnson to the London Stadium this summer. He would have undoubtedly lit it up in the famous Claret and Blue.

He is a number 10 by trade but he can also play on either wing. He was recently described as an exceptional talent by former Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton (FLW).

The young ace was in superb form for Forest last season with 19 goals and nine assists to his name in 53 games (Transfermarkt).

Johnson played such a key role for the East Midlands outfit last season and he seems to have all of the attributes needed to make it at the very highest level.

The 21-year-old has the world at his feet and if he continues to work hard and applies himself properly both on and off the pitch, he could very well become a star in the game one day.

It’s such a shame that West Ham look set to miss out on what would have been an absolute dream signing.

Perhaps David Moyes will revisit his interest in Johnson next summer.
