West Ham are eyeing a £14 million bid for Nottingham Forest youngster Brennan Johnson this month according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Hammers boss David Moyes has a lot of work to do over the course of the next three weeks or so.

West Ham are flying high in fifth spot in the Premier League table and we have a Europa League last 16 tie to look forward to in March.

We have an FA Cup third round clash with Leeds to come this weekend as well.

The Hammers are one of the smallest squads in the top flight. Moyes should be looking to bring a top-class striker and a high quality centre-back to the London Stadium at the very least during the January transfer window.

It seems as though Moyes could be eyeing a move to bolster his attacking midfield ranks for the future as well though…

West Ham eyeing bid for Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson

The Daily Mail reckon that the Hammers are weighing up a £14 million bid for the 20-year-old attacking midfielder before the January transfer window slams shut.

The East London outfit allegedly could face competition to prise him away from the City Ground from the likes of Premier League clubs Brentford and Everton, however.

Johnson is an incredibly exciting young talent. He is a number 10 by trade but he can also play on either wing. He was recently described as an exceptional talent by former Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton (FLW).

The young ace has been in superb form for Forest so far this season with five goals and four assists to his name in just 25 Championship games (Transfermarkt).

Johnson has played such a key role for the East Midlands outfit this season and he seems to have all of the attributes needed to make it at the very highest level.

Despite the additions of a new striker and centre-back being Moyes’s priorities, with Said Benrahma away at AFCON with Algeria for at least a month, signing an up-and-coming attacking midfielder/winger wouldn’t be the worst move in the world for West Ham.

Johnson is certainly someone who would be a very wise addition for West Ham with one eye on the future. He has incredible talent and could one day go on to become a superstar in the game.

West Ham manager Moyes absolutely has to get his transfer business 100% spot on this month.

We have a genuine chance to make a big splash in the Premier League and in Europe this season.

And the addition of a couple of top-class signings will be absolutely vital to our hopes of achieving any kind of real success.

Whether Moyes should be looking to bolster his squad in other areas rather that the attacking midfield department, however, is another question entirely.
