Craig Dawson could leave West Ham United in the January transfer window, after narrowly missing out on an exit in the summer.

That’s according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor who claims that David Moyes could look to bolster his centre-back ranks in January, but only if Dawson leaves the London Stadium.

It seems as though the West Ham boss would have to dip into the market for another centre-back on deadline day, however, with Wolves apparently set to sign Dawson for around £5 million.

The 32-year-old ended up staying with the Hammers but the problem for him is that when Aguerd is back from injury, he will be the fifth choice centre-back at the London Stadium.

And it seems as though he could well be off in January…

Craig Dawson could be sold in January

The 32-year-old centre-back has proven to be a superb signing for the Hammers.

He could depart the London Stadium in a few month’s time, however:

He originally joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Watford in October 2020. West Ham then made his move to the London Stadium a permanent one for a further £3 million in the summer of 2021 (The Sun).

£3 million for the no-nonsense, tough-tackling centre-back now seems like an absolute bargain.

Daws has established himself as a cult hero at West Ham but he’s actually a lot more than that. He’s a very good good defender, and labelling him as a cult hero really doesn’t do him justice.

He has been described as an ‘immense’ centre-back by the Evening Standard. And ex-Hammer Carlton Cole once labelled him as ‘special’ (Daily Mail).

Craig Dawson is absolutely adored by the West Ham fans.

If the 32-year-old really does want to leave East London in order to be closer to his his family home up north, then we should just grant him his wish.

He’s out of contract in the summer anyway, so it would be nice to get some kind of fee for him.

If West Ham do sell Craig Dawson in January though, it will be a sad day for the Hammers fans.
