The Ivory Coast international left West Ham to join the Dutch giants in January for around £20 million (The Times).

The 27-year-old joined the Hammers in the summer of 2019 from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £45 million (BBC).

Haller was a complete flop at the London Stadium, however, and scored just 14 goals in 54 games for West Ham (Transfermarkt).

He has been a completely different animal at Ajax though.

Haller has bagged 23 goals and nine assists in 33 games for the Dutch outfit thus far.

That goal tally includes five goals in just two Champions League games! The Ivorian bagged an incredible four goals against Sporting two weeks ago and he was at it again last night, scoring Ajax’s second during their 2-0 win over Besiktas.

Sebastien Haller Champions League heroics

The fact that we sold Haller to Ajax is actually quite annoying now considering the fact that we still haven’t signed a replacement.

The 27-year-old was really poor for the Hammers but given a choice between him and nobody at all, surely most fans now wish David Moyes would have kept him at the London Stadium.

On his day he was a top-class player. The problem was that games often passed him by. The 27-year-old quite simply didn’t put in enough effort throughout the course of games and he just wasn’t suited to Premier League football.

Having said all of that, he would still have been a very useful option to bring off the bench if things weren’t working out in a particular game.

And after Haller’s Champions League heroics, Moyes may well be regretting his decision to sell him back in January.
