The Algeria international moved to the London Stadium from Brentford on loan in October and his deal was then made permanent in January.

Things haven’t quite worked our for Benny at West Ham just yet, however.

The 25-year-old made his first start for the Hammers against Leeds way back in December.

He was absolutely electric in that game. The Algeria international constantly showed for the ball and produced numerous bits of magic.

David Moyes chose to criticise Benrahma after the game, however, highlighting his apparently poor decision making and ball retention.

The former Brentford ace hasn’t looked like the same player since.

In fact, Moyes has regularly chosen to criticise Benrahma, as covered right here on Hammers News.

He seems to be scared of giving the ball away every time he’s in possession. That is the absolute worst thing for a mercurial play-maker who is expected to make things happen.

A lot of things that Kevn De Bruyne tries don’t come off due to the fact that he attempts incredibly risky passes and often opts to shoot from distance. But when the Belgian does get it right it is truly sensational to watch.

Bruno Fernandes is the same.

Said Benrahma has been mismanaged

If Moyes would have praised Benny after that game against Leeds five months ago we may well have seen a different player.

It is what it is, however.

Hopefully Benrahma’s goal against Brighton last night will give him the confidence that he needs to really kick on now.

He racked up 17 goals and 10 assists in 46 Championship games for Brentford last term according to Transfermarkt, so we know he’s more than capable.

Some West Ham fans are really not happy with the way that David Moyes has managed Said Benrahma since the Algerian moved to the London Stadium though…
