Paul Merson predictions: Merse has backed Manchester United to leave West Ham United’s London Stadium with all three points this afternoon, when making his predictions for Sportskeeda.
The Hammers welcome the Red Devils to the London Stadium for the two o’clock kick-off this afternoon.
West Ham and Manchester United have both started their respective Premier League campaigns in fine fashion.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has guided his team to three wins and a draw from their opening four games whilst David Moyes’s men have taken eight points from the same amount of matches as Man United.
West Ham can leapfrog Manchester United with a win this afternoon. We will have our work cut out with Michail Antonio ruled out through suspension, however.
Paul Merson predictions: Manchester United to beat West Ham?
With Antonio not playing, Merse has backed Man United to leave East London with all three points.
He told Sportskeeda:
“If Michail Antonio was playing, I’d give West Ham every chance in this game. Unfortunately, he isn’t, so I’m really not sure how they could cope without him. Manchester United are not really playing well – the results they’ve got so far in the Premier League have simply papered over their cracks. The UEFA Champions League loss against Young Boys will serve as a kick up the backside for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – it should liven them up for this one. They know that they will get beaten in the Premier League if they perform as poorly as they did in midweek. That said, Manchester United have looked quite solid at the back domestically and with Antonio out, they should win this one.”
Prediction: West Ham United 0-1 Manchester United
West Ham will undoubtedly miss Micky. We are so much more than a one-man team though.
Moyes has built a team who work for each other. We are a well-drilled unit and Manchester United will certainly not be relishing a trip to the London Stadium.
We have won two and drawn one of our last four Premier League games at home against Man United. Hopefully we make it three wins in our last five.
Merson doesn’t think that will happen though.
