Hammers star Pablo Fornals has come out fighting amidst strong recent criticism of West Ham United.

The Hammers are currently in the midst of a really poor run of form having taken just five points from our last five Premier League games.

As a result, those in and around West Ham in the Premier League table have gained serious ground on us.

David Moyes’s men are still sitting in fifth spot in the table though and a few wins will get us right back on track in the race for the Champions League places.

The Hammers face games against Wolves in the Premier League, Southampton in the FA Cup and Liverpool and Tottenham in the league again before the next international break.

And one West Ham player has come out fighting…

Pablo Fornals issues defiant West Ham rallying cry

The 26-year-old Spaniard has played a key role for the Hammers this season.

Fornnals is far from perfect but he can never be accused of not caring. The Spaniard does not stop running and working hard for his team.

The former Villarreal ace is a hugely popular figure at the London Stadium so when he talks, the fans listen.

And Fornals insisted that the players need to improve together as a team, when speaking exclusively to WHUFC.com:

“We are playing a bit different to the first part of the season, all we have to do is fix it and try to improve together as a team. We are the first ones who want to fly every time, who want to be fighting with the teams at the top, but all of this is new for every one of us. It’s a process and I can say this, and this is a truth, that we’re not losing games, so the thing is all of us are disappointed [in recent performances], but at the end of the day it’s better to go home with one point that without.”

That really is good to hear.

The players need to shoulder the reasonability for our awful recent displays.

Sure, we have one of the smallest squads in the Premier League, so exhaustion and fatigue must have been a factor behind our recent dip in form.

That’s no excuse for quite how poor we have been though. And the players must know that.

They’ve got to get together and rediscover our early season form. They need to go back to doing what worked and find that tight bond and siege mentality that made us such a good side in the first place.

Fornals’ comments highlight how he and his teammates need to get better together as a team. And if they do that, we’ll be just fine this season.

At the end of the day, West Ham are massively punching above our weight. We are still competing in three competitions in late February and that is unheard of for the Hammers.

Hopefully the players can get back to their best and end the season in fine style. There’s still a long way to go and a lot of games to be played.

This season ain’t over yet…
