Nayef Aguerd was captured on video taking part in West Ham training yesterday, and he looks in sensational condition.

Aguerd posted a picture on Twitter earlier this week showing him back involved in first-team training.

The Moroccan joined West Ham from Rennes in the summer for around £30 million (Fabrizio Romano).

Unfortunately for him though, he seriously injured his ankle during a pre-season friendly with Rangers and subsequently underwent surgery on said ankle.

It was recently suggested that Aguerd would do well to return to action before the World Cup.

Serious ankle injuries are always vey difficult to come back from after all.

Losing Aguerd for such a prolonged period of time was such a massive blow for West Ham.

It seems as though he could be very close indeed to a return to action though…

The Moroccan may well be back and involved with the Hammers match-day squads very soon indeed.

West Ham posted the below video to their official Twitter account showing Aguerd looking in absolutely pristine shape during training yesterday:

Aguerd looks ready to go if you ask me.

The 26-year-old obviously won’t be match fit, so perhaps he’ll need to play an under-21 match or two before he’s ready for some minutes in the Premier League.

Considering the current central defensive injury crisis that David Moyes has on his hands, the 26-year-old’s return to training could not have come at a better time.

Aguerd is a truly elite centre-back and the fact that he’s left-footed will enable Kurt Zouma to move back to his preferred right centre-back position.

Thilo Kehrer can then play in the right-back position that he has made his own in recent weeks.

Aguerd’s ability to pass out from the back should enable us to become more of a possession-based side – just like David Moyes apparently wants us to be.

And his rapid pace will help us play further up the pitch as a team, without being as concerned about leaving space in behind.

His all-round ability has been really missed at the London Stadium this season.

After the training video posted by West Ham yesterday though, the fans will get to see Nayef Aguerd in the Claret and Blue very soon indeed.
