Missing out on ‘sensational’ Michael Olise to Crystal Palace was so short-sighted from West Ham

West Ham United lost out to Crystal Palace in the race to sign Michael Olise in the summer transfer window.

And the decision not to push harder for Olise now look incredibly short-sighted from the Hammers.

The 20-year-old joined Crystal Palace in the summer from Championship side Reading.

Eagles boss Patrick Vieira paid just £8 million to bring Olise to Selhurst Park from The Madejski Stadium (The Daily Mail).

And the talented youngster has already made a huge impact for Palace.

Olise has bagged four goals and six assists in just 18 games for the south London outfit this far (Transfermarkt).

The £8 million that Crystal Palace parted with for Olise’s services now looks like an absolute bargain.

Crystal Palace have got a bargain with Michael Olise, West Ham missed out

Hammers boss David Moyes wanted to bring Olise to the London Stadium in the summer according to the Reading Chronicle.

The Scot really should have pushed harder to bring the 20-year-old to East London, or perhaps the owners should have.

The talented Palace youngster can play anywhere along the front-line.

He is incredibly dangerous when operating on the right-wing, cutting inside onto his favoured left-foot.

Olise would have been the ideal long-term replacement for Andriy Yarmolenko and £8 million for a player with his quality is absolute peanuts.

The Palace ace is far more physically robust than the ageing Yarmolenko. He has pace, energy and dynamism in abundance and possesses absolutely everything needed to succeed in the Premier League and at the very highest level of the game.

Olise has been described as a sensational young player by Palace’s official club website.

The sky is the limit for the France under-21 international. He will undoubtedly be a £50 million plus player in a couple of years time.

West Ham could have easily brought him to East London. Instead, we spent the summer chasing after Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard.

As good as the 29-year-old was for us during his loan spell at the London Stadium, our priorities really should have lied elsewhere.

And I strongly believe that West Ham will really regret not having pushed harder to sign Olise in the summer. He will undoubtedly go on to become a real star.
