West Ham ace Michail Antonio has suggested that David Moyes is ‘scary’ when he brings the hairdryer treatment out.

Moyes has worked wonders in charge of the Hammers since taking over at the London Stadium for the second time back in December 2019.

The Scot took over West Ham when we were deeply embroiled in a relegation battle. He managed to keep the Hammers up though, and then guided us to a magnificent sixth placed finish in the Premier League table last season.

As a result, West Ham qualified for the Europa League this term. We have gone from strength to strength on the continent since the start of the season and face Lyon in the quarter-finals tonight at the London Stadium.

Michail Antonio has played a key role for the Hammers both domestically and on the continent. And the 32-year-old spoke to reporters about West Ham’s recent rise to prominence.

Michail Antonio praises David Moyes

The former Nottingham Forest ace is one of the Hammers’ most important players.

David Moyes absolutely loves Micky but sometimes the striker falls foul of the Scot’s expectations…

Antonio responded when asked by The Evening Standard how Moyes handles things when his players are not performing to their best levels:

“There are definitely some voices being raised and digging people out. Scary? Yeah. It is needed. People need to be lifted and know if they’re not doing well. That is one thing we get from him and from player to player. Everyone demands the best from each other; the coaching staff and players, we all demand it and we will keep pushing each other.”

Moyes has a reputation of being a harsh task master. And that’s a good thing.

Too often nowadays players are pampered to the extreme and when underperforming, they need to be told.

David Moyes has worked miracles during his time at West Ham and Michail Antonio has lifted the lid on one of the many reasons as to why he’s had so much success at the London Stadium.

Hopefully the Scot doesn’t have to use the hairdryer treatment too much between now and the end of the season!
