Michail Antonio has responded when asked if he should be starting for West Ham instead of Gianluca Scamacca.
Scamacca moved to the London Stadium from Sassuolo in the summer transfer window for around £35.5 million (Sky Sports).
And the 23-year-old has since gone on to establish himself as West Ham’s number one centre-forward. At times, he has looked an absolute class obove everyone else.
As a result, Michail Antonio has dropped down to the bench – a situation that is clearly a frustrating one for any player.
Scamacca has scored six goals so far for West Ham, but he has now gone six games without finding the back of the net.
So should Antonio be starting ahead of the Italian for our game with Crystal Palace at the London Stadium on Sunday?

The 32-year-old forward has looked lively when he has come on off the bench in recent weeks.
And Antonio responded when asked by Callum Wilson on the Footballer’s Football Podcast whether he thinks he should be starting ahead of Scamacca:
It’s a difficult question to be fair. Scamacca came in when I wasn’t scoring at the beginning of the season, and then he came in and did well in Europe and that. Last few games he has not been scoring and results have gone up and down. Like you said, when I’ve come in, I’ve done my job and done well and changed games, so I’m definitely pushing for a start. It’s all down to whether the manager gives it to me. If I keep doing what I’m doing and her keeps not starting me, and Scamacca doesn’t score, then I’ll be knocking down the door definitely.
He’s got a point to be fair.
Antonio might just have to score a key goal when he comes on, however, if he is to oust Scamacca from the starting XI.
The fact that the Hammers have this kind of competition now is great news for everyone involved with the club.
The competition should bring out the best in both strikers.
Hopefully now we will start seeing the best of Antonio and Scamacca on a consistent basis. Who knows, we might even see them play together soon!
