Michael Owen has a ‘funny feeling’ about West Ham star Lucas Paqueta, after news emerged about the shock injury blow he has suffered.

Owen was speaking to Premier League Productions (October 19th, 7:10 pm), and absolutely raved about the Hammers star.

Paqueta joined West Ham from Lyon in the summer transfer window for a club record £51 million fee (The Times).

He has made a fairly impressive start to life at the London Stadium, with two assists to his name so far. Paqueta suffered a potentially serious shoulder injury during our draw with Southampton on Sunday though.

David Moyes then said after the game that the shoulder injury sustained by the 25-year-old was serious.

Paqueta then claimed himself that he would be out for only two weeks, before insiders Claret and Hugh went a step further by suggesting that he could even be ready to return for Monday’s game against Bournemouth.

Quite when will return to action remains to be seen, and Michael Owen has outlined just how much of a miss he will be for David Moyes’s side…

The talented Brazilian’s shoulder injury came at a really bad time for both him and the Hammers.

He was just starting to find a rhythm in the West Ham team. Hopefully it won’t be too long before he’s back.

And Michael Owen has highlighted just how important Paqueta could be for this West Ham side:

I have got a funny feeling he could be a top-class player to grace the Premier League over the next few seasons. So, it’s a big blow for them.

I agree with Owen, and feel like Paqueta could be a hugely important player for West Ham over the course of the next five years or so.

The 25-year-old play-maker looks like the real deal, and is the kind of player who tries to make things happen all the time.

As long as Moyes, and the fans, are patient with him, and he is allowed to express himself, I’m confident that he will go on to be a true great for the Hammers.

When the news of the Lucas Paqueta shoulder injury blow broke, the West Ham fans could be forgiven for thinking, ‘why always us’?

The early sounds coming out of the London Stadium about Paqueta seem to be fairly positive though. And hopefully the Brazilian play-maker returns to action as soon as possible.
