Retired captain Mark Noble is likely to return in a major role as sporting director at West Ham United says David Moyes.

Boyhood Hammer Noble is regarded as Mr West Ham and rightly so.

The Academy graduate went on to spend his entire career as a true one-club man through thick and thin with the Hammers.

There were emotional scenes as Noble brought the curtain down on his West Ham career at the end of last season.

Speculation has abound for some time over what the future might hold for Noble and West Ham.

Nobles had hinted in the past he wanted to manage West Ham one day in the future when his playing days were over.

But speaking to Jamie and Harry Redknapp for Sky One lockdown show Redknapp’s Home Fixture, Noble is less certain of one day managing the club.

Instead he suggested he might prefer to work under the club’s owners in a director of football role.

“Do you know what I have two thoughts with the management of West Ham thing,” Noble told Redknapp’s Home Fixture.

“Because I’ve been at the club since I was 11 years of age and I love the club so much I’d to be in a position, whether it’s the manager or sitting above the manager but underneath the owners, where I can effect real decisions of the club and the players we sign and bigger decisions.

“Because in management in three or four games you can go from being Mark Noble who’s played for West Ham for years, and all of a sudden everyone wants you to get the sack.

“Obviously I felt that when Slaven was the manager of West Ham. We had such a good relationship but there was times I spoke to him when the fans were on him and the results weren’t going well that he actually looked devastated that he was in the position he was in.”

Well now it seems that will be the next step in the loyal departed skipper’s West Ham story.

Because Noble is likely to return in a major role as sporting director at West Ham says Hammers boss Moyes.

Speaking in an interview with The Daily Mail, the Scot revealed Noble has been groomed behind the scenes to take up the sporting director role at some stage.

“We’ll bring him in somewhere,” Moyes told The Daily Mail.

“He wants to be involved.

“He’s been training to be the likes of a sporting director in the future.”

Noble would be a great ambassador for West Ham.

And he knows what type of characters the club should be signing too.

It seems like it would be the perfect fit, especially given the relationship he has with Moyes.
