Hammers star Jarrod Bowen has made a bold claim about the Leeds atmosphere after West Ham taunts during a fiery clash.

Leeds United and West Ham played out an entertaining 2-2 draw under the lights at Elland Road on Wednesday night.

The result was frustrating for both sides with Leeds wasting several chances and being denied by Lukasz Fabianski while West Ham threw away a rare lead having clawed their way back from 1-0 down.

In the end a point was probably a fair result for both West Ham and Leeds in what was at times a tempestuous match between two struggling sides.

The point – and a late Aston Villa equaliser against Wolves – kept West Ham out of the bottom three.

It was always going to be a difficult task for West Ham facing Leeds at Elland Road in a night fixture.

The traditional old ground is somewhat nostalgic for Hammers fans – offering a reminder of nights under lights at their beloved former Boleyn Ground home.

Leeds are famed for the atmosphere they produce at Elland Road.

But the home crowd were taunted throughout the match by Hammers supporters chanting ‘Where’s your famous atmosphere’ and ‘You only sing when you’re winning’.

Now Hammers star Bowen has made a bold claim about the Leeds atmosphere after those West Ham taunts during the fiery clash.

Speaking on West Ham’s official website, Bowen delivered his verdict on the famous Elland Road atmosphere.

“It was a proper fight,” Bowen told West Ham TV.

“Two teams really fighting. It’s always a great fixture, coming up here to Leeds.

“With the atmosphere they create, it’s one of the best for me personally. To play in these games, I want to say it’s good fun, but it’s a constant dog fight for 90 minutes.”

Given some of the atmospheres and grounds Bowen has played in with West Ham, that is some claim.

Bowen has played in some cauldrons against Sevilla away, Lyon away and perhaps the one that tops the lot, Eintracht Frankfurt.

He has also played for England at Hungary’s notoriously hostile and loud Puskas Arena. So for him to put Leeds’ Elland Road atmosphere up there with the best is some compliment.
