Vladimir Coufal is all set to be handed a huge opportunity to impress tomorrow night for West Ham vs Rapid Vienna in the Europa League.

Thats according to club insiders Claret and Hugh.

Hammers right-back Coufal, 29, lost his place to Ben Johnson recently after suffering a nagging groin problem.

Unfortunately for the Czech Republic international, the 21-year-old has been quite simply sensational since coming into the side.

Johnson’s form has been so good that he is now deemed undroppable by David Moyes.

It seems as though Coufal could be set for a big chance to impress tomorrow night though.

Coufal to start for West Ham vs Rapid Vienna?

Claret and Hugh reckon that the 29-year-old will be given a big chance by David Moyes tomorrow night against Rapid Vienna.

The former Slavia Prague ace is a top-class defender. He really should be a regular for West Ham and must be ruing the day that Nemanja Matic piled into him, causing his groin issue.

Signed for just €5 million (£4.2 million) in October 2020 (The Athletic), Coufal has established himself as one of the most important players at the London Stadium.

His commitment, desire, work-rate and winning mentality has undoubtedly helped the Hammers reach an entirely new level over the past 12 months or so.

Vlad’s absence hasn’t really affected us over the past six weeks or so though, such has been the incredible form of Johnson.

The young right-back looks like he is improving every single week. So Coufal must take any chance he is given.

Perhaps tomorrow night against Rapid Vienna will be make or break for Vlad.

Most people have been saying that it’s only a matter of time before he forces his way back into the West Ham starting XI.

However, with every game that passes with Coufal warming the bench, the more likely it is that Johnson will nail down the right-back spot as his own.

Tomorrow night’s Europa League clash against Vienna will be a hugely important one for West Ham. It could be argued that it is even more important for Coufal from a personal perspective though.
