In many respects you would not think West Ham United were three days away from the start of a new season.

That’s because it is all quiet on the West Ham front.

David Moyes has not spoken since the win over Brentford 11 days ago.

The manager is said to be very busy at the moment with speculation he could resign described as ‘nonsense’.

West Ham fans will be hoping the Scot is busy finalising transfers and working on the team’s defence.

West Ham are the only Premier League club not to bring in a new signing this summer as their rivals took spending over the £800m mark yesterday.

And there are concerns West Ham could struggle again this season after a shocking display in the 5-3 defeat to Bournemouth in the club’s last pre-season friendly before the big kick-off against Newcastle this Saturday night.

Many supporters do not like the fact inside information is leaked to sources such as Claret & Hugh and ExWHUemployee.

Indeed the reliable West Ham insider even took to Twitter to reassure fans he has simply been busy over the last few days.

“As for why I haven’t been tweeting, loved the conspiracy theories but it’s only been three days, I had a busy weekend with work and family and I fancied a break from certain accounts….nothing more, nothing less,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.

Since the controversial sale of Grady Diangana to West Brom last week, the atmosphere surrounding the club has turned toxic.

The Athletic likened the mood inside West Ham to that of a funeral following the young star’s departure.

Captain Mark Noble publicly hit out at co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold over the sale. And he was supported by many of his teammates.

Since then the insider updates from Claret & Hugh seem to have ground to a halt.

It may be the individuals with links inside West Ham are otherwise engaged.

But it also poses the question, have West Ham closed ranks to try and stamp out the negativity surrounding the club?

The owners are under intense pressure. So perhaps they have decided to batten down the hatches.

Such is the radio silence, it really is anyone’s guess.

If Moyes can somehow seal a deal for Burnley and England defender James Tarkowski, things will suddenly start to seem a lot rosier in the West Ham garden.

Supporters know the club also needs to address the full-back areas and ideally have another option up front.

It appears highly unlikely any of that will be addressed before Saturday’s game against Newcastle.

West Ham will then have three weeks before the transfer window slams shut on October 5th.

A winning start to the new campaign and some much-needed transfer activity would go a long way to settling the club down.
