The Hammers have an incredibly exciting crop of young players currently coming through the ranks at the London Stadium.

However, impressing for the youth team doesn’t always equate to a long and successful career with the senior side.
Just ask Conor Coventry…
Forgotten West Ham first-teamer starting for the under-21s last night was the ultimate slap in the face
Coventry was included in the starting XI for last night’s Premier League 2 clash with Southampton.
Coventry is clearly not good enough to play at the very highest level. He won’t get anywhere near the West Ham starting XI this season.

And his inclusion in the under-21s last night was the ultimate slap in the face for him.

It’s a shame that things never worked out for him at the club. And the fact that he was selected for the under-21s last night tells us all we need to know about his West Ham future.
