Football journalist gets it badly wrong with claim about West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen

West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen has been in quite simply awful form for David Moyes’s side so far this season.

The 25-year-old has been so poor. He looks well off the pace and is still yet to bag either a goal or an assist in seven Premier League games so far this term.

Bowen was very lucky to retain his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad after his slow start to the 2022/23 campaign.

Now the pressure is on him to start performing on a consistent basis again for club and country.

The thing is, in order to get the best out of Bowen, we truly believe that Moyes needs to make it very clear to him that he isn’t guaranteed to start every single week.

Journalist gets Jarrod Bowen claim completely wrong

Football journalist Paul Brown has been speaking to Give Me Sport about Bowen’s current form, and he suggested that Moyes will continue to play him through this bad patch of form:

I think, really, he needs to rely on the players that he knows are consistent and can do it. He’s more of a manager who likes to bring in the rest quite slowly, when they’ve got used to the system and the team and the league. So I don’t think it’s likely he will be dropping people like Jarrod Bowen any time soon.

He’s missing the point badly here isn’t he!

In fact, we believe that Moyes should be doing the polar opposite to what Brown has suggested.

The reason we are in the mess that we’re in is because Moyes has placed too much trust and faith into his old favourites.

He hasn’t given the new boys a proper chance in the Premier League yet. And as a result, we’ve gone badly stale as a team.

The likes of Bowen, Pablo Fornals, Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Lukasz Fabianski and Michail Antonio shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting XI next weekend against Wolves.

Bring in Maxwel Cornet, Said Benrahma, Flynn Downes, Ben Johnson, Alphonse Areola and Gianluca Scamacca for those names mentioned above and you’ll see an instant difference.

Paul Brown has got this one badly wrong. Jarrod Bowen needs to be benched for West Ham as a matter of urgency otherwise he will start believing that he is untouchable.

That’s when complacency will set in and it will just get worse and worse for both the 25-year-old and the Hammers.
