Paris Saint-Germain allegedly tried up until the very end to hijack West Ham United’s deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca.

Hammers boss David Moyes brought the 23-year-old striker to the London Stadium from Sassuolo in the summer for around £35.5 million, including add-ons (Sky Sports).

The 23-year-old has just struggled to impose himself with West Ham as things stand, but he clearly has a lot of talent and will undoubtedly come good at some point.

He has scored two goals for the Hammers as well, let’s not forget. He just needs time to acclimatise to Premier League football and Moyes’s system and playing style.

Scamacca will go on to be a great signing for the Hammers in my opinion. And Fabrizio Romano’s latest claim proves just how highly he’s rated in the game…

Paris Saint-Germain tried to hijack West Ham move to sign Gianluca Scamacca

The 23-year-old forward was chased all summer by the Hammers and PSG it seems.

PSG even tried to scupper West Ham’s deal to bring him to East London the night before he undertook his medical!

That’s according to highly respected Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who told his official YouTube channel:

“Gianluca Scamacca, new striker from West Ham, they paid more than 40 million for Scamacca to Sassuolo. But in the final hours of the negotiation, maybe West Ham fans remember that this deal took a long time to be completed maybe two days to complete everything to have the medical, to sign the contract, because Paris Saint-Germain wanted Scamacca for a long time and they tried until the end. Also, the night before the medical to change the story, to hijack the deal and to sign Scamacca. It didn’t happen West Ham are happy with their new Italian striker, but PSG were really keen on Scamacca and let’s see what will happen in the future with Scamacca.”

In my opinion, the fact that PSG were so keen to sign the Italian is proof in itself that we have a tremendously talented player on our hands.

Gianluca Scamacca will definitely come good at West Ham, there is no doubt about that.

Once he scores in the Premier League, the confidence will start to flow. Let’s continue to back the Italian and not get on his back if he’s struggling.

Scamacca will be a real hit in the Claret and blue. Perhaps a little patience is needed with him though.
