Ex Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa wants the West Ham job but the Hammers owners have concerns over one big issue according to a reporter.
David Moyes is under serious pressure at West Ham after the 2-0 defeat to Brentford left the club one place off the relegation zone by virtue of goal difference.
According to a new report West Ham’s owners have three managers in mind to replace Moyes if the Scot is eventually sacked.
And one of them is former Leeds manager Bielsa.
The Daily Mail claim ex Leeds hero features on the West Ham owners’ three-man shortlist of possible replacement for Moyes, who has been given a three-game stay of execution.
Ironically West Ham head to Leeds next on Wednesday night. Should the Hammers lose at Leeds it is difficult to envisage Moyes remaining in the job much longer.
As reported by Hammers News yesterday, co-owner David Sullivan has already interviewed former Leeds boss Bielsa once for the West Ham job when he was manager of Marseille.
The Argentine was sacked by Leeds back in February and replaced in the Elland Road hotseat by Jesse Marsch.
Now ex Leeds boss Bielsa wants the West Ham job but the owners have concerns over one big issue according to a reporter.
“Marcelo Bielsa has been named as one possible and we understand from insiders that he would be ready to take over,” reports board confidant Hughie Southon on Claret and Hugh.
“But the board have experience of him at interview level when appointing Slaven Bilic rather than the 67 year old Argentine and were not impressed with his zero knowledge of English. That remains the case.”
The report also claims Bielsa’s reputation as something of an eccentric is putting off West Ham’s ownership.
Now Moyes must look to beat Leeds to restore faith that he can turn things around at the club.
And that won’t be easy.
West Ham will have serious concerns ahead of Wednesday night’s clash under the lights at Elland Road.
