Fabianski has certainly risen to the challenge since Alphonse Areola was brought in on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The ex-Swansea City stopper has been a great servant for West Ham since moving to the London Stadium back in the summer of 2018. David Moyes is obviously a huge fan of Fab, as are the fans. And it seems as though his teammates respect him to the hilt as well…

West Ham ace Declan Rice raves about ‘great’ West Ham player

The 23-year-old Hammers star is one of the very best in world football. So when he talks, we listen.

Dec was speaking to WHUFC.com about Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City and absolutely raved about Fabianski after he saved a penalty from Riyad Mahrez in the dying minutes of the game:

“We wanted to win the game, but Lukasz kept it from being a defeat. He made some big saves and he’s done that all season for us, to be fair. He’s a credit to this Club and has been a great player for us. It’s all positive.”

Fabianski has been great for West Ham this season.

However, the bottom line is that Areola has to be West Ham’s number one goalkeeper next season if we are to make genuine progress as a football club.

Whether the Hammers owners are prepared to meet the Frenchman’s wage demands remains to be seen.

But either way, it’s obvious to see that Fabianski will have some kind of role to play for West Ham next season.

The comments from Declan Rice on Lukasz Fabianski prove just how much the 37-year-old still has to offer at the London Stadium.
