Rice has been truly outstanding for West Ham this season and he thoroughly deserved the award after having missed out to Tomas Soucek last season.

The 23-year-old has captained the Hammers when Mark Noble has been sitting on the bench and he has done so with aplomb. That’s quite the achievement from Dec considering his age.
Rice is the most important player David Moyes has at his disposal at the London Stadium. Keeping him around beyond the end of the summer transfer window will be absolutely vital to West Ham’s hopes of achieving any kind of success next season.
We believe that there’s every chance that will happen but the Hammers board need to back Moyes to the hilt in the summer transfer window.
If the Scot is backed to sign the players he actually wants and the club show some genuine ambition, then there is no reason why Rice won’t hang around for at least one more season.

The Hammers skipper was handed the award for the best player of the season, as voted by supporters, last night.
And it’s little wonder as to why.
Rice is so incredibly consistent and never seems to put in less than a 8/10 performance. He is a truly magnificent player.
Rice took to Twitter last night and posted a 10-word tweet after picking up the HOTY gong:
Well done Dec. Let’s hope that he wins the award next season as well!
