Declan Rice has made a West Ham manager plea amid new David Sullivan claims over his relationship with David Moyes.

The 2-0 home defeat to Brentford was West Ham’s fifth on the bounce and fourth home loss in a row.

It leaves the Hammers in serious danger of starting the new year in the bottom three – perhaps even rock bottom.

But the malaise is nothing new. West Ham’s European exertions have both exasperated and masked some woeful domestic form.

There have been just 13 wins in the last 44 Premier League matches over this season and last.

A season-long relegation battle will quickly become a reality for West Ham if results do not rapidly improve.

West Ham majority stakeholder David Sullivan has publicly backed Moyes via Hammers News and has also denied reports of a falling out with the manager.

But even Moyes has conceded he is under pressure, especially having spent almost a quarter of a billion pounds on transfers in the last two summer windows.

Football Insider has once again made claims of a rift between Sullivan and Moyes today and reports the Scot is edging ever closer to the sack.

“Football Insider understands from well-placed sources at the club that the two do not see eye to eye on many issues, and the manager’s power base is not nearly as strong as it was,” Football Insider claims.

Now Rice has made a West Ham manager plea amid the new Sullivan claims over his relationship with Moyes.

Speaking in a six-minute interview on the club’s official website following defeat to Brentford, Rice says the players are to blame and not the manager.

“It’s frustrating because I know the quality we have got; I know the players we have got,” Rice told whufc.com.

“I see it day in and day out in training. The reality of it at the minute is that we are not doing well enough, we are letting ourselves and the manager down, and we are also letting the fans down.

“There’s no beating around the bush, we signed the players in the summer and it’s up to us to be out there, pushing, driving, giving everything for the badge and giving everything for the fans.”

West Ham simply must start winning, starting at fellow strugglers Leeds United on Wednesday.
