The 22-year-old is undoubtedly the Hammers most important player.

David Moyes thinks the world of him and so do the West Ham fans.

Keeping him at the London Stadium should be the most important task on Moyes’s agenda whilst he is in charge of the Hammers.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked with moves to sign Rice (Manchester Evening News).

We strongly believe that any club in world football would sign Dec if they could, but that doesn’t mean he will leave.

In fact, we think that the England international is more than happy at West Ham. And the fact that he is still under contract until the summer of 2024, with the option of a further 12 months, means that the Hammers hold all the cards.

The stand-in Hammers skipper was speaking to the media yesterday ahead of our Europa League clash with Rapid Vienna tonight.

Rice responded when asked what life is currently like at West Ham, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“Everyone knows how I feel about playing at West Ham and playing under the manager and with the group of players I’m with. I’m playing with a smile on my face. I’m going out there, leading the team, and every time I’m putting on the shirt, my only objective is to get the three points. I’ve played in teams here that have fought relegation, been mid-table, but the last two seasons, what the manager’s built for us, and what we’ve done, has been great. You look forward to training. It’s like a big family when you go in. I think the gaffer’s said it before – we’re like a bunch of kids! With the results and how well we’re doing, it makes it that bit more special. I think we can achieve good things. Last season you saw that we finished two points off the Champions League and easily could have got into that. The other night, in the League Cup, we knocked out Manchester United.The mentality around the place is that every competition we’re entering is one we can go on and win for sure. I love playing for this team and under the manager.”

That really tells us all we need to know about Rice and his situation at West Ham.

Ridiculous reports emerged earlier this year suggesting that the 22-year-old was unhappy at the London Stadium and wanted to leave.

Those reports were obviously designed to unsettle Rice and the Hammers as a football club.

Rice’s comments yesterday proved that we have nothing to worry about though.

If West Ham keep improving under Moyes and the owners show some real ambition, there is no reason why Rice won’t stay at West Ham for his entire career.
