Declan Rice has been heavily linked with an exit from West Ham over the past week or so.

The Daily Mail have missed the point badly with their latest claim regarding the 22-year-old Hammers ace, however.

The British newspaper suggest that the England International has two options this summer.

The West Ham star can either join Manchester United or Chelsea according to The Daily Mail.

There is a third option for Rice of course…and that is to stay at the London Stadium.

The 22-year-old has rejected two new contract offers from the Hammers according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law.

That doesn’t mean that our hopes of keeping Dec are over, however.

He is still under contract at West Ham until the summer of 2024 and the East London outfit have an option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.

Who’s to say that if we make another contract offer, Rice won’t accept it? He seems more than happy at the London Stadium.

The Hammers’ ability to match his ambition in the transfer market will be crucial to our hopes of keeping, however.

If David Moyes brings some top class players to the cub over the next couple of months, there is no reason why Declan can’t be tempted to stay at West Ham.

The Hammers gave the 22-year-old his big chance to prove himself at the highest level. And we think he might just repay that favour…on the one condition that the owners prove they have the ambition needed to take the club forward this summer.

It’s strange that the Daily Mail didn’t even acknowledge that possibility in their article.
