David Moyes used one superlative to describe Ollie Scarles after his debut for West Ham against FCSB last night.
The Hammers beat FCSB 3-0 in what was arguably our very best performances of the season so far, and by some margin.
What made the performance and the result all the more satisfying was the fact that Moyes started two of our academy products.
Both Ollie Scarles and Divin Mubama started for the Hammers out in Romania, and both players were very good indeed.

It is actually beyond comprehension that they are both still teenagers! Scarles, 16 and Mubama, 18 clearly have very bright futures ahead of them at the London Stadium.
It was Scarles who Moyes raved about most after the game though…
Moyes uses one superlative to describe Ollie Scarles after West Ham debut vs FCSB
The youngster was sensational for the Hammers last night, and exceeded all expectations.
Scarles is actually a central midfielder by trade but he obviously can operate as a left wing-back as well!
What an incredible performance he put in last night.
And Moyes used one word in particular to describe Ollie Scarles’ performance on his West Ham debut vs FCSB last night, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

I thought both Ollie and Divin played very well. I thought Ollie did exceptional in his first start. He made chances and had a few opportunities. He created a great chance for Divin in the first half and then put one of the crosses in for one of the goals as well, so I’m pleased for him. He’s only 16 so he’s got a lot to do yet, but that’s a good start for him. Ollie didn’t let us down at all in his role. He physically ran out of gas with about 20 minutes to go and we could have taken him off and we thought about it. But I think, for a 16-year-old, he did great.
Exceptional is the word I would have used as well.
Last night’s performance will do Scarles the world of good. And so will the comments from Moyes after the match.
The challenge for him now will be to get back down to business for the under-21s and under-18s.
The teenager still has an awful lot of hard work ahead of him, if he is to make it at the very highest level.
Ollie Scarles made his debut for West Ham last night, and it really couldn’t have gone any better. Hopefully he continues to go from strength to strength now.
