David Moyes has admitted that it will be a long while before the West Ham United fans see the best of Gianluca Scamacca.
Scamacca joined the Hammers from Italian side Sassuolo in the summer transfer window for around £35 million (Sky Sports).
He has made a very solid start to life at the London Stadium, with six goals in 12 games to his name so far.
Scamacca clearly has a very positive influence on David Moyes’s side.
West Ham have won all seven games that the 23-year-old has started so far!

It seems as though Scamacca really has established himself as West Ham United’s number one striker now.
The Italian has to keep producing the goods regularly, of course he does. But the early signs are very good. In spite of that though, Moyes has urged caution regarding the centre-forward…
David Moyes sends Gianluca Scamacca warning to West Ham fans
The Scot is often quick to play down the fine form of his players. It must be an attempt to keep their feet on the ground.
Moyes did praise the impact made by Scamacca, but warned the Hammers fans that it will take time before we see the best of him, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

I’ve been impressed by Gianluca Scamacca since day one. I think in the first press conference I came in and said I’ve seen things and I hope what I’m seeing is correct! Some of the stuff he’s done is really good. He then picked up a virus and wasn’t in a physical enough condition – the way the contract talks went on took a long time and he missed a lot of days’ training, so it took us a little bit of time to get him going. I think it’s going to take a lot longer too to see the real best of him, but the version we’ve got of him at the moment is doing a really good job. We like him, he probably had two headers on Sunday, the shot past the post and he scores one as well, so on the day he could have maybe had two or three. I just hope he keeps getting those opportunities and those chances.
I have been hugely impressed with Scamacca so far.
And it is worth remembering that the virus he had back in September undoubtedly would have set him back somewhat.
Gianluca Scamacca will go on to be a West Ham legend, I have no doubt in my mind about that.
Let’s be patient with the Italian though. He clearly has so much talent and potential, but it might be a while before we see him in full flow.
