Hammers boss David Moyes raves about Lucas Paqueta cameo and delivers a transfer update after the draw with Spurs.

West Ham managed to get Brazil star Paqueta registered in time to take his place in the squad against bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Moyes admitted before the game that the 25-year-old had not even had a chance to pass a ball to his teammates let alone train with them.

West Ham’s Jekyl and Hyde displays continue as the Hammers put on a vastly improved second half display once again to come from behind and secure a 1-1 draw against Spurs.

And they came within a whisker of taking all three points in the 88th minute. But a misunderstanding between Emerson and Paqueta saw the latter denied what would surely have been a winner.

Now the focus turns to the final 24 hours of the transfer window for West Ham.

After the game West Ham’s manager was speaking to BT Sport about the result, Paqueta and whether he will be making any signings.

Moyes raved about the Paqueta cameo and delivered a transfer update after the Spurs draw.

“A decent point, I can’t complain too much,” Moyes told BT Sport.

“I’m really looking forward to it (working with Paqueta), it’s someone who we have been monitoring really all summer and we hoped that we might get him at one point but for most of the summer it didn’t look likely.

“But when it came up late on it was great for us because we’ve been needing something which can sort of go between Declan (Rice) and Micky (Antonio) and someone who can give us a sort of number 10 role. Somebody who can play and create opportunities for us.

“Look, he didn’t disappoint today in his short cameo so I’m looking forward to getting him training, getting him used to us and hopefully he’ll make a big difference…

“There could be (more signings before the deadline) but I couldn’t be sure of that either as it’s very late in the window.

“It’s been a really long window, the board have been really good, they’ve helped me get a lot of what I think are talented players – we didn’t have Gianluca Scamacca tonight (illness), we’ve got (Nayef) Aguerd who is out for three months as well.”
