One of West Ham United’s most promising young players has been promoted to first-team training during the international break.

West Ham manager David Moyes has lost a whole host of players this week due to the international games.

Hammers youngster Jacob Knightbridge is a 19-year-old goalkeeper born in Brentwood, Essex.

With Alphonse Areola away with France on international duty, the Hammers were obviously short of numbers for training sessions.

As a result, Moyes has dipped into his youth ranks to get the numbers up.

And Knightbridge can be seen training with the first-team on a video uploaded to West Ham’s official Youtube account.

The 19-year-old stopper has played 28 games for the under-18s, and has conceded 36 goals whilst keeping 11 clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Knightbridge cuts an imposing figure and he is a very commanding goalkeeper. He’s a pretty good shot-stopper as well with impressive reflexes.

The West Ham youngster will be gaining valuable experience by training with the first-team right now.

However, we all know that goalkeepers do not reach their prime until they are in their late 20’s to early 30’s. So I can’t see him making an impact with the first-team for quite some time yet.

That said, it will be interesting to keep a close eye on his development over the next few years, whether that be with the under-21’s or with another club on loan.

Whatever happens, I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
