David Moyes has made a big claim about Alphonse Areola after the West Ham ace’s performance against Manchester City in midweek.

The 28-year-old joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
And West Ham have the option of signing Areola permanently for around £11 million next summer (Wyn Foot).
The Frenchman has made a fabulous start to life at the London Stadium.
Four appearances and four clean sheets so far for the Hammers is quite the record.
He will undoubtedly be our number goalkeeper next season. Until then, however, Areola will have to bide his time with Lukasz Fabianski currently the number one stopper in Moyes’s eyes.

The 6ft 5in goalkeeper put in a quite incredible performance against Man City.

The 28-year-old was cool and composed with the ball at his feet, reassuring and commanding in the air and pulled off a few brilliant saves showcasing his incredible reflexes.
And Moyes told Football.London how he thought Areola put in his best display yet for West Ham on Wednesday night:
“Well, what we saw the other night was the reason why we brought him in because we knew that the amount of games we’re going to have whether it be European games, cup games or league games, we’re always going to need good competition. And I think I’ve got two No.1’s, it keeps Lukasz on his toes and I’ve got somebody who is in good form and ready to play. And like everybody else sometimes coming to a club even though Areola has had experience with Fulham I still think it takes a bit of time to settle in. I thought the other night was his best game for us and he certainly helped us get through it and into the next round.”
Areola certainly staked a very strong claim for a starting spot against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Moyes will likely persist with Lukasz Fabianski but it can’t be long before the Frenchman usurps the Pole.

Moyes is clearly very happy with Areola’s start to life in East London. And we can be safe in the knowledge that we have a very capable pair of hands to come in as and when Moyes decides to give Fab a break.
