David Moyes has made an absolutely huge Nayef Aguerd claim ahead of the Liverpool clash that will undoubtedly delight the West Ham United fans.

Aguerd has been out of action since July after injuring his ankle during a pre-season friendly clash with Rangers at Ibrox.

It seems as though the 26-year-old is closing in on a return to action though, after posting a picture on Twitter yesterday of him taking part in West Ham training.

David Moyes will be desperate to have Aguerd back and involved as soon as possible.

The Morocco international moved to the London Stadium in the summer from Rennes around £30 million (Fabrizio Romano).

As things stand though, the Hammers fans are still yet to see him play a competitive game for the club. That could all be about to change very soon though…

The central defender should be close to returning to the Hammers squad.

And boy, do we need him back, with the likes of Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson all suffering with separate issues at the moment.

Moyes told reporters how Aguerd will definitely return to action before the break for the World Cup, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

It’s really good news that Nayef is on his way back because we bought him in as a key player for us. He’s started training, not fully integrated yet, but is getting closer to playing.”I think he’ll definitely feature before the World Cup.

That really is great to hear.

West Ham will be a totally different side when Aguerd is back fully fit, firing and ready to go.

Considering the current central defensive injury crisis that David Moyes has on his hands, the 26-year-old’s return to training could not have come at a better time.

Aguerd is a truly elite centre-back and the fact that he’s left-footed will enable Kurt Zouma to move back to his preferred right centre-back position.

Thilo Kehrer can then play in the right-back position that he has made his own in recent weeks.

Aguerd’s ability to pass out from the back should enable us to become more of a possession-based side – just like David Moyes apparently wants us to be.

And his rapid pace will help us play further up the pitch as a team, without being as concerned about leaving space in behind.

His all-round ability has been really missed at the London Stadium this season.

According to David Moyes though, it shouldn’t be too long before Nayef Aguerd is playing in a West Ham shirt again.
