David Moyes has issued a Vladimir Coufal rallying cry in response to internet trolls after the abuse directed at the right-back from so-called West Ham fans.
Vladimir Coufal took to Twitter to post a message after David Moyes’s Hammers side drew 1-1 with Southampton on Sunday, but he was forced to take the tweet down after receiving abuse from a certain number of ‘keyboard warriors’.
The real West Ham fans then rallied around Coufal, sending him support and love on Twitter.
The 30-year-old responded by posting a tweet showing his appreciation to the real fans.
The thing is, there are ways of going about criticising players. I have consistently been critical of the Czech’s poor performances over the past 6-9 months.
But it has been constructive, with statistical analysis to back up my point of view. At no point would I ever dream of abusing Coufal behind an anonymous account.
And Moyes has lent his support to the Hammers right-back…

The Scot spoke to the media yesterday about the interaction between players and fans on social media.
And Moyes lent his full support to Coufal after some of the abuse that he received on Sunday evening, as quoted by the club’s official website:
I don’t do social media, so I don’t know exactly how it feels [to receive abuse on that platform] or what it does, but there are plenty of times where I’ve been abused quite regularly, so it’s not nice for anybody if that’s the case. Overall, the Club is really supportive of the players and we’re looking after Vladimir as well. Vladimir has played really well and if you think of where he has come the past two or three years, the journey which he has helped us on too, from being a side fighting relegation for long periods to a team pushing towards the top of the league, Vladimír has played a huge part in that.
Those are wise words from Moyes.
It’s easy to forget just hoe crucial Coufal has been for us over the past two years.
And even when he is playing poorly, he will never give anything less than 100% for this football club.
And as West Ham fans, we should always support players who do that, regardless of their ability, or lack thereof.
David Moyes has gone public with his support of Vladimir Coufal, and in fairness to the proper West Ham fans on Twitter, they have as well.
