West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted that he is probably rushing Angelo Ogbonna back to action ‘too quickly’.
Ogbonna made a superb start to the 2021/22 season and was undoubtedly one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League during the first three months of the season.

Unfortunately for the Italian though, his campaign ended in November after he suffered a serious ACL injury that kept him out until this summer.
The 34-year-old has been eased back into action so far this season, and he played 90 minutes last night for the first time since November.
Moyes is still cautious about the Italian though…

The Scot was speaking to reporters last night and responded when asked about Oggy’s fitness, as quoted by Football.London:
‘We’re bringing Angelo Ogbonna back. We are probably pushing him a little bit sooner than we would have liked. I thought he did terrific tonight, Angelo, considering it was his first 90 minutes for over a year now.”
90 minutes would have done Ogbonna the world of good last night.
The 34-year-old is still a vitally important player for the Hammers, certainly from a leadership perspective. We desperately missed that when he was out injured last season.
Hopefully the Italian doesn’t suffer any further setbacks this season.
David Moyes highlighted how important Angelo Ogbonna is to this West Ham team. And his performance last night against Viborg proved that he’s still very much at the top of his game.
