Angelo Ogbonna was an absolute colossus for West Ham against Tottenham this afternoon.
What a performance from the Hammers in general.
There were top-class performances all over the pitch.
Barring Said Benrahma, everyone put in a very good display for David Moyes.
We think that Angelo Ogbonna was the standout performer, however.
The Italian is an absolute man-mountain. At 33, it seems as though the centre-back is maturing like a fine wine, he just keeps getting better and better.
Like a fine wine, Angelo Ogbonna puts in world-class display vs Tottenham
Ogbonna is such a calming presence at the back for West Ham.
He organises and dictates proceedings with an authority that belies his cool demeanour.
Fantastic in the air, the former Juventus man won absolutely everything today and kept Harry Kane quiet. In fact, the Tottenham striker hardly had a touch.
The Italian’s reading of the game really is quite sensational as well. Truly magnificent.
The £10 million (BBC) that West Ham paid for Oggy six-and-a-half years ago now looks like an absolute steal.
Hopefully he can maintain these performance levels for at least a few more years.
There’s no reason why he can’t. He’s as fit as a fiddle and as mentioned earlier, his exceptional reading of the game makes up for his lack of pace.
The London Stadium was bouncing before the game, during and after. And it’s little wonder.
Today really was a huge, huge win. And Ogbonna played a key role in our victory.
