Nayef Aguerd apparently turned down a move from West Ham United to Saudi Arabia in the summer transfer window.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Al Ittihad made a move to sign Nayef Aguerd, but the West Ham defender rejected them.

It is claimed that they were offering him a salary worth 10 times the amount he currently earns with the Hammers (Goal).

Aguerd, 27, currently earns £50k-a-week at the London Stadium (Spotrac), so if those claims are true, he would have been earning a whopping £500k-a-week out on Saudi Arabia.

The fact that he has allegedly turned them down proves just how dedicated he is to succeeding under David Moyes at West Ham…

Club offered West Ham star half a million a week contract in the summer transfer window

Santi Aouna reckons that the Morocco international chose to stay at the London Stadium, rather than chase the riches of the Saudi Pro League.

The Foot Mercato journalist took to Twitter and posted the below message regarding Aguerd’s current situation:

That kind of commitment from a player in the modern game is really impressive.

Nayef Aguerd now needs to start showing just how good he can be for the Hammers, and improving upon his consistency, decision making and positional awareness would be a good place to start.

The 27-year-old has the all the makings of a really good centre-back, he just needs to fine tune his game.

And Aguerd rejecting the chance to join the Saudi Pro League from West Ham in the summer transfer window proves that his mentality is exactly what we need from our players at the London Stadium.
