Ben Johnson is absolutely finished at West Ham United, after a decision yesterday from David Moyes.
West Ham full-back Ben Johnson has regressed badly since the start of last season, and he isn’t anywhere near David Moyes‘ starting XI right now.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene at the London Stadium four years ago and at the time, it seemed like we had an unbelievable player on our hands.

Unfortunately for him though, he has failed to make the kind of progress that we all expected. In fact, he’s gone backwards.
And I believe his time at West Ham is coming to an end…
Ben Johnson will be wishing he left West Ham in the summer after humiliating David Moyes decision
Last night’s decision for Johnson to play in the under-21s would have been a tough one for the full-back to take.
Obviously it was Steve Potts who selected him in his starting XI last night, but it would have been Moyes who gave him to go-ahead to do so.
Johnson would have been available for today’s clash with Manchester City after all.
The full-back’s current £33k-a-week deal (Salary Sport) with West Ham is set to expire next summer. I really can’t see him hanging around at the London Stadium beyond that.

I actually think he should have left the Hammers in the summer. And the fact that Ben Johnson played for West Ham’s under-21s yesterday proves that as far as I’m concerned.
Some might say that Johnson played for the under-21s to get some minutes into his legs but I don’t agree. I think he couldn’t be further away from a place in the starting XI right now. And the sooner he leaves the Hammers the better for him.
For Ben Johnson to have been playing a key role for West Ham over the past two years and to now be demoted to the under-21s must be really tough for him to take. It’s time for the player and the club to go their separate ways.
Who knows? I might be well wide of the mark here and Moyes still sees as future for the 23-year-old at the London Stadium. However, I just can’t envisage a scenario where that’s the case unfortunately.
