A BBC man has delivered an update from inside West Ham as his senior sources explain the David Moyes situation.
“We one hundred per cent support the manager” were the words of West Ham majority stakeholder David Sullivan speaking to Hammers News after the defeat to Palace last week.
That was before West Ham followed up the loss by crashing out of a wide open Carabao Cup to Blackburn’s reserves and losing a third home game in six days with a 2-0 defeat to Leicester at the weekend.
The results leave West Ham just two places and one point off the relegation zone going into the World Cup break.
But the malaise can be charted back to this time last year with West Ham having won just 13 times in their last 42 Premier League matches.
While they will undoubtedly be unnerved by the situation, it seems Sullivan and fellow co-owners David Gold and Daniel Kretinsky remain unmoved in their stance.
Moyes will be at West Ham after the World Cup break – although it has been claimed the restart will come with a very high expectations.
For some fans, keeping Moyes is the wrong decision. Many feel he is a busted flush, a tired voice for the players and has failed to come up with the answers since the Hammers became a team the opposition defend deep against.
Others believe the exploits in Europe and the marvellous job Moyes has done to turn the club around earns him the right to try and turn things around.
It seems the board are very much in line with the latter according to reporter Simon Stone and his contacts at the club.

“While there is concern over the form of the team, senior sources at the club believe Moyes deserves the right to turn the situation around,” Stone reports for BBC Sport.
“It has not been forgotten that West Ham were teetering on the brink of relegation when the Scot returned to the club in December 2019. Moyes pulled the Hammers away from trouble and then secured European football through their league position in successive seasons for the first time in their history, finishing sixth and then seventh.
“It is acknowledged many of West Ham’s summer signings have so far failed to live up to expectations but Moyes is trusted to turn the situation round. He is also credited with his role in helping to develop skipper Declan Rice into one of the best midfielders in the country.”
The latter is pushing the truth somewhat. It was Manuel Pellegrini who really gave Rice the chance to shine and establish himself as a midfielder and the Hammers captain admits as much himself.
The sources make salient points about the reasons Moyes has credit in the bank.
But there will undoubtedly be a limit to how far that credit stretches as there is with any manager at any club.
