Barcelona were allegedly eyeing up a move to sign ex West Ham United striker Enner Valencia in the January transfer window.
That’s according to the 33-year-old’s agent who told Mach Deportes that his client was on the radar of Spanish giants Barcelona last month.

Valencia spent only two years at Upton Park.

The Hammers paid £15 million to sign the Ecuador international in 2014 (The Guardian) before he left to join Everton on loan in 2016 and then Mexican side Tigres permanently for £7 million in 2017 (beIN SPORTS).
I was always a fan of Valencia during his time with West Ham, but he never really got a chance to prove himself due to persistent niggling injuries.
He has still been performing consistently since he left the London Stadium in 2017, and his recent form caught the attention of a European powerhouse…
Barcelona wanted Enner Valencia
According to the 33-year-old’s agent, Barca were eyeing the forward up in the January transfer window.
Gonzalo Vargas said:

“It was wonderful news to hear Barcelona wanted Valencia. There was a survey from Barcelona. Just the fact of being on the Catalan team’s radar is a source of pride for his family.”
Had Barcelona signed Enner Valencia, it really would have been a huge shock.
Having said that, he has posted some really impressive numbers this season.
He has 20 goals in 18 Super Lig games for Fenerbahce (Transfermarkt). The Ecuadorian can still do a job at the highest level.
I just feel like we never got the chance to see the best of him during his time with West Ham. And that’s a real shame.
