An insane statistic emerged this week which proves West Ham are the most competitive team in all of Europe’s top five leagues.
They say there are lies, damned lies and statistics.
But West Ham have been topping stat charts all over the shop over the last two years under David Moyes.
The Scot has turned West Ham from weak-willed relegations candidates to a genuine, resilient European outfit.
West Ham are firmly ensconced in the race for the top four again this season, have made the last 16 knockouts of the Europa League and are one game away from a Carabao Cup semi-final.
Hammers fans are loving life and what Moyes has done is nothing short of miraculous.
Insane statistic proves West Ham are the most competitive team in all of Europe’s top five leagues
But for all the milestones and records West Ham have achieved under Moyes so far, the transformation at the London Stadium is perhaps best highlighted by an insane new stat which proves the Hammers are the most competitive team in Europe’s top five leagues.
West Ham have not lost a game by more than one goal in their last 40 games.
It is the longest such run of any team in Europe’s top five leagues.
So of the 98 teams in Europe’s recognised top leagues – namely the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1 – West Ham are the most competitive.
The stat may seem a strange one. But it shows West Ham have been well in every single match they have played for well over a season now.
That takes some doing.
And that dogged resilience is so far removed from the West Ham of old famed for having a soft underbelly and – in Moyes’s own words – a club known for being ‘flaky’.
What an incredible stat. What an incredible team. And what an incredible manager.
And yet more proof – if it were needed – that West Ham are indeed absolutely massive.
Long may it continue. Come. On. You. Irons.
