Gary Neville makes massive claim about West Ham duo Tomas Soucek and Declan which is the ultimate compliment

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has made a massive claim about West Ham United duo Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice.

Neville was waxing lyrical about West Ham following the 4-1 win over Leicester City on the first Monday Night Football of the new season.

And with good reason too.

David Moyes’s Hammers have started the campaign just as they finished the last, in free-scoring, winning form.

West Ham top the fledgling Premier League table for the first time since 2006 after beating Newcastle 4-2 in the curtain raiser.

That made it 14 goals in West Ham’s last four Premier League games this season and last.

But Neville told those watching on Sky Sports that it has all been made possible by brilliant duo Soucek and Rice.

The duo were brilliant again against the Foxes. Both were so disciplined in their roles and have an almost telepathic understanding in the heart of West Ham’s midfield.

And Neville claims the duo would grace any team in the Premier League – bar Manchester City.

“The foundation they get from those two central midfield players is brilliant, it really is,” Neville said in Sky Sports’s MNF post game analysis.

“As a midfield player (Rice) with Soucek, it’s an outstanding pair that. You’d want them in your midfield.

“I think they could go – apart from Manchester City – they could go and play in any midfield.”

Neville is absolutely spot on. Not that West Ham fans want to see the duo plying their trades elsewhere of course!

Neville’s analysis makes a mockery of the pathetic claims from the likes of Graeme Souness that Rice has to learn to play forward more.

This season West Ham fans will see more of Rice bursting forward.

Moyes will not want the Hammers to become predictable and so Soucek will find he has to sit more as Rice bombs on to get among the goals and assists.

Soucek will still get his fair share of goals don’t worry about that.

But he will have to share that licence to push on with Rice a lot more for this campaign.

In other news, ‘Moyes feels’ ExWHUemployee delivers hugely positive transfer update.

And ‘Mainstream media bias’ West Ham fans fume at headline and coverage.
