West Ham star Lucas Paqueta has killed Roy Keane with kindness in response to the fuming pundit’s criticism of him and Brazil.

For those who have missed it, Keane was not a happy man watching West Ham midfield ace Paqueta and his Brazil teammates enjoy their comfortable 4-1 win over South Korea in the last 16 of the World Cup.

West Ham’s marquee summer signing and his fellow boys from Brazil seriously turned on the Samba style against South Korea. And not just with their play.

Paqueta was key as Brazil demolished South Korea, taking a 4-0 half-time lead with a superb fourth from West Ham’s £51m man as he volleyed home.

Before the World Cup Arsenal and Brazil duo Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli declared West Ham ace Paqueta was hands down the best dancer in the squad.

And the Hammer showed his full repertoire of samba skills, leading South Korea and his Brazil teammates – quite literally – on a merry dance.

ITV pundit Keane was not happy, though, criticising the West Ham star and the Brazil team for dancing after each goal.

“It’s like watching Strictly (Come Dancing)…” Keane said on ITV.

“I don’t like this. I know Eni (Aluko) has made the point about (their) culture and it’s the way (they are). But I think that’s really disrespecting the opposition, it’s four and they’re doing it every time.

“I don’t mind a little first kind of jig or whatever they call what they’re doing, it’s the one after that and then the manager getting involved with it. No, I’m not happy with it. I don’t think it’s good at all.”

Now West Ham star Paqueta has killed Keane with kindness in response to the fuming pundit’s criticism.

Paqueta says the dancing was not done in an insulting way or to antagonise. And West Ham’s number 11 has told Keane they won’t be stopping because football is about joy.

“The dance is a representation of our joy after scoring a goal,” Paqueta said (Get Football).

“We don’t do it to disrespect anyone, we don’t do it in front of our opponents. We all get together to celebrate.

“If they don’t like it, there’s not much to say. We’ll keep scoring goals and keep dancing. This is a group that is happy to score, to get the victory and the goals.”

Well said Lucas.

Football has become so over sanitised, robotic and boring.

Brazil bring colour, life and style to the occasion and it should be embraced and celebrated especially at the World Cup.

Keane is a great pundit and should be applauded for saying what he thinks. He usually gets it on the money, but on this occasion he is being too much of a curmudgeon.
