West Ham have allegedly made a bid for a high quality World Cup star, just before his heroics ensured last-16 qualification.
Hammers boss David Moyes will likely be a very busy man in the January transfer window.
The Scot needs to strengthen with one or two top-class additions, but one area in particular at the London Stadium that is in urgent need of attention is his central defensive department.
Angelo Ogbonna is now 34 whilst Craig Dawson is only two years behind him, and has been heavily linked with an exit from West Ham.

The addition of a young centre-back who has tremendous quality and has youth on his side will be an absolute must in January in my opinion.
And one man seems to be the standout candidate…
West Ham bid for World Cup star just before heroics ensure last-16 qualification
The Hammers allegedly made a £13 million bid for Spezia ace Jakub Kiwior yesterday.
And the 22-year-old proved his unbelievable quality with a timely intervention for Poland during their World Cup defeat to Argentina yesterday.
Despite losing the game 2-0, Kiwior’s goal-line clearance late on in the match ensured that his country qualified through to the last-16 of the competition:
With Mexico winning 2-0 at the time, another goal for Argentina would have dropped Poland down to third place in the group.
Saudi Arabia scored deep into injury time against Mexico in the end, but at the time of Kiwior’s goal-line clearance, it was a qualification defining action for Poland.
I would absolutely love Kiwior to rock up at the London Stadium in January.
The 22-year-old helped ensure Poland’s World Cup last-16 qualification against Argentina last night.
Whether West Ham are prepared to meet his reported £17-20 million price tags remains to be seen though…
