West Ham players must read mind-boggling comments from Freiburg manager Christian Streich after 1-0 defeat

West Ham United were beaten 1-0 by Freiburg last night, but Christian Streich is seemingly living in cloud cuckoo land judging by his baffling post-match comments.

Christian Streich was visibly delighted with the Freiburg Europa League victory over West Ham yesterday, and his side now have something to protect heading into the second-leg.

Hammers boss David Moyes would have been fuming with his side’s performance on the whole yesterday but if truth be known, we dominated Freiburg and should have comfortably won the game against what was a poor side on the night.

West Ham should have been awarded a penalty late on as well, but it wasn’t given due to the fact that the referee apparently believed Tomas Soucek pushed Noah Weisshaupt, forcing him to handle the ball.

In spite of that, we still should have won the game comfortably. Freiburg offered absolutely no threat throughout the game, aside from the goal that they scored of course – one that really shouldn’t have been conceded by the Hammers.

However, Streich clearly didn’t see it that way…

West Ham players must read comments from Freiburg manager Christian Streich

The Freiburg boss addressed the media last night after the 1-0 win for his team.

And he responded when asked what he thought of his side’s display, as quoted by Freiburg’s official website:

“The team played a calm and clear game, with most of our attacks resulting in a shot on goal. We passed the ball around nicely, which mean it didn’t turn into a wild game, but it was rather much more controlled.”

The onus is now on the West Ham players to prove that Streich is talking utter nonsense.

How on earth can the Freiburg manager generally believe that his side controlled the game? They were absolutely awful and we should have easily beaten them.

And as for him comments on most of their attacks culminating in a shot on goal…well…

They had 14 shots but only three found the target against the Hammers last night (Who Scored). In my opinion, Freiburg are one of the worst teams left in the Europa League, and the West Ham players have to make that very clear and obvious to Christian Streich next Thursday.
