Lyon manager Peter Bosz has suggested that he has already got one up on West Ham ahead of Thursday’s huge Europa League clash at the London Stadium.
West Ham play host to Lyon in the Europa League in East London in three day’s time for what could be a memorable night for the club.
David Moyes has guided his team into the Europa League quarter-finals during what has been a superb continental campaign for the Hammers.
We beat Sevilla over two legs in the last round and our 2-0 win after extra-time at the London Stadium was undoubtedly the best night in our Stratford home since we moved in there six years ago.
Let’s hope for more of that against Lyon.
The Ligue 1 outfit will certainly not be a pushover but they are struggling in their domestic league this season and are currently sitting in ninth spot in the table.
Lyon proved their European pedigree in the last-16 of the Europa League when they beat Lyon over two legs.
West Ham definitely have enough to beat the French side but their manager thinks he has secured a real coup ahead of Thursday’s game.
Lyon manager thinks his team have got one over West Ham ahead of Europa League clash
The French side took advantage of a new one-month transfer window opened by FIFA allowing players in Ukraine and Russia to suspend their terms of employment until June 30th, as outlined here on FIFA’s official website.
The window runs until April 7th and Lyon brought in Brazilian ace Tete from Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer.
Bosz was speaking to Ligue 1 club’s official website after his side beat Angers 3-2 yesterday and raved about new signing Tete who scored the winner:
“Tete is a special player,” says Bosz, the former Dortmund and Ajax coach. I have known him for a long time and I was surprised to see that a player like Tete was signed by OL. Normally, this kind of player is unattainable for OL.”
West Ham wanted to sign Tete according to (90Min). Unfortunately for us, the Premier League blocked any new incomings from Ukraine or Russia before the end of the season.
Lyon ace Tete will be able to play against West Ham in the Europa League on Thursday night, as covered right here on Hammers News.
In truth, that just doesn’t seem fair to us at all. It is what it is though. And we just need to forget about it now and meet the challenge head on.
West Ham are on the precipice of achieving something really special. Hopefully we deal with Tete, if he does indeed play.
And Lyon will know that they will be in for an incredibly tough evening at the London Stadium regardless.
