West Ham’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window has so far yielded little success.
In fact, they’ve been dealt defeat over one of their leading targets on that front.
Indeed, earlier this month, it was claimed that West Ham had made a £10million offer to sign Brazil international goalkeeper Bento.
Lucas Paqueta ‘wants to leave West Ham’ in the midst of a relegation battle – what’s your reaction?!
What was the point in this then? 🤔
The 26-year-old is currently plying his trade for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, having joined them from boyhood club Athletico Paranaense in the summer of 2024.
Still, despite playing alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Joao Felix, it seems a move to European football is on the cards.
It, however, sadly won’t be with West Ham United.

West Ham target Bento agrees to join Genoa
Genoa were battling West Ham to sign Bento, and it seems as if the Serie A side have indeed won out.
That’s because, according to leading transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian is set to join the Italian outfit imminently.
Bento’s move to Italy will be sanctioned after Al-Nassr’s Saudi Pro League clash against Al-Hilal on Monday afternoon after a verbal agreement was reached.
Would you take relegation if it meant that David Sullivan would leave?! 🤔
Romano adds that Genoa are set to sign the custodian on loan, with an obligation to buy this summer for around £7.8million.
Update on West Ham’s move for a Bento alternative
Bento isn’t the only goalkeeper the Hammers have on their radar.
Such is the club’s desire to strengthen their options between the posts during the January transfer window, West Ham are reportedly interested in Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky.
The 22-year-old only joined Spurs from Slavia Prague last year but could be on the move this month after appearing only twice this season.
West Ham are said to be one of the clubs keeping a keen eye on proceedings and a path may have opened now that relegation rivals Wolves have supposedly dropped their interest.
