West Ham United’s hopes of signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer have been given a boost.

Major boost for West Ham as Wolves boss gets nasty surprise with several injury concerns

The Daily Star and West Ham insider ExWHUemployee have claimed Abraham is one of David Moyes’s prime striker targets this summer.

Respected Stratford-based Telegraph journalist Matt Law, who has close ties at Chelsea, also claimed West Ham are interested in signing Abraham.

Hammers heavily linked with Chelsea striker Abraham

Law claimed Abraham has been ‘doubted and excluded’ by new Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

And West Ham’s hopes of being able to sign the big forward in the summer are growing after Tuchel made a frank admission ahead of Chelsea’s shock 5-2 defeat to West Brom.

Reported West Ham target Abraham did not even make the Chelsea squad for the game.

And when asked the reason why, Tuchel effectively admitted he wasn’t good enough (talkSPORT).

West Ham’s Tammy hopes grow after frank Tuchel admission

“He was not in the squad,” Tuchel said abruptly when asked about Abraham’s notable absence by talkSPORT.

“I have to nominate 18 players. There are tough choices to make.

“We take the choices of what the game demands, of what we predict, of the substitutions that we have.

“In the end, we have to select 18 players for more or less 20 positions. So we have to leave three players out and Tammy was one of the three players.

“It’s nothing personal or nothing big. He has the same chance to play every three days like everybody else.”

The fact a fit Abraham cannot make Chelsea’s squad has to bode well for West Ham.

Striker’s situation bodes well for Moyes

According to the likes of ExWHUemployee, the England forward is on a five striker shortlist Moyes has drawn up ahead of the summer transfer window.

Ironically West Ham are rivalling Chelsea for the last Champions League spot.

Victory over Wolves on Monday will elevate West Ham above Chelsea.

Abraham’s friendship with Declan Rice has also been cited as a potential advantage for West Ham.

The Hammers have also done plenty of business with the Blues over the years. Frank Lampard is the most notable.

But Glen Johnson became the first signing of the Abramovich era when the Russian’s money funded a £6m move from relegated West Ham.

And fellow Hammer Joe Cole joined him in a paltry £6.6m move.

John Terry left West Ham at 14 to join Chelsea. And Hammers hero Declan Rice went the other way at the same age after being released.

The last striker West Ham signed from Chelsea, Carlton Cole, went on to have a memorable Hammers career.
