West Ham United’s January transfer window business is beginning to really heat up now.

Nuno Espirito Santo has already brought Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe to West Ham in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, five players have left the London Stadium, including Andry Irving, Luis Guilherme and Niclas Fullkrug.

Lucas Paqueta is also being linked with an exit while Callum Wilson’s West Ham future remains very much in the balance.

The chances of escaping relegation just went up πŸ‘†

Nuno desperately needs to bring more quality new signings to the club before the transfer window closes, if he is to guide his side away from relegation trouble.

However, a deal for one of Nuno’s key targets could be set to drag on until transfer deadline day.

West Ham’s deal to sign attacker expected to drag on until deadline day

Nuno is doing everything he can to ensure that his squad is more balanced heading into the final third of the season, with extra quality in the attacking areas.

Adama Traore is someone who the Hammers boss has been chasing for quite some time now.

Recent reports have claimed that West Ham are actually closing in on the signing of Adama Traore.

And now, football journalist Dean Jones has provided an update via Patreon.

He claims that West Ham’s deal to sign Traore could drag on right up until deadline day on February 2nd.

β€œWest Ham United are in negotiations with Fulham over a potential move for Adama Traore,β€œ Jones claimed.

β€œThe two clubs remain apart on valuation, with the Hammers trying to drive the price down. Might drag on towards deadline day tbh.β€œ

Nuno is clearly a huge fan of Traore.

The Hammers boss obviously believes that the 29-year-old will be able to make a big difference for the Hammers between now and the end of the season.

So with that in mind, West Ham completing the signing of Adama Traore this month could be very important indeed.

Do West Ham really need Adama Traore?

The former Barcelona winger is the strongest and most physically dominant player in the world.

However, his attacking output has been really poor throughout his career, with just 35 goals and 69 assists to his name in 452 games.

One way he could be really useful to West Ham is that he’s a right-footed right winger who likes to get to the byline and whip balls into the box.

This may help regarding more service for Taty Castellanos.

However, even if West Ham do sign Adama Traore, there is no way he will start regularly in the right wing position ahead of Jarrod Bowen.

The eight-capped Spain international will very much be an impact sub for the Hammers. However, he could still have a huge part to play for the east London club even if he receives limited game-time.
